Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran Publishes Bibliometric Study on Emerging Trends in Tuberculosis Medication Adherence Research
A new bibliometric analysis led by Sidik Maulana, Doctoral Study Program of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, and colleagues from Universitas Padjadjaran Hesti Platini, S.Kep.,Ners.,M.Kep., Prof. Hartiah Haroen, S.Kp.,MNg.,M.Kes, Ph.D., explores the evolving landscape of research on medication adherence in tuberculosis (TB) treatment across Southeast Asia between 2015 and 2024.
Drawing on 146 peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Scopus, the study maps out trends in publication, international collaborations, citation metrics, and emerging thematic focuses. The findings reveal Indonesia as the most prolific contributor in this domain, with notable strengths in cross-national research partnerships.
Through co-authorship and keyword network analysis, the research identifies four primary thematic areas: clinical and demographic characteristics; pharmacological management and disease burden; socio-behavioral determinants of adherence; and the integration of digital health-based treatment evaluation. Notably, “primary-community-based care” and “digital health interventions” emerged as accelerating research frontiers, offering valuable insights for policy, program development, and future scholarly inquiry.
The study contributes to the optimization of TB treatment adherence strategies and supports global health agendas, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
