Innovating Heart Failure Care: Digital Education Enhances Self-Care Among Patients
Heart failure remains a major global health concern with significant mortality and morbidity. Effective self-care is essential for patients to manage symptoms, improve quality of life, and reduce hospitalizations. Researchers from Universitas Padjadjaran,Prof. Yanny Trisyani, SKp, MN., Ph.D. , Aan Nur’aeni, S.Kep.,Ners.,M.Kep., and Firman Sugiharto in collaboration with Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, conducted a quasi-experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of digital-based education for heart failure patients.
The study compared video education with traditional leaflet and booklet methods in 76 patients. Results showed that video education led to significantly better self-care behaviors, with a 37.7% influence on patient self-care improvement. These findings demonstrate that digital education is a practical, scalable tool to support heart failure management and patient empowerment.
