Universitas Padjadjaran Advances Care for Domestic Violence Survivors with Latest Nursing Intervention Review
Domestic violence against women remains a critical global issue with severe physical, psychological, and even fatal consequences. Addressing these impacts requires comprehensive nursing interventions tailored to the complex needs of victims.
A scoping review conducted led by Iyus Yosep, S.Kp., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and colleagues from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, systematically examined recent evidence on nursing strategies to reduce the negative effects of domestic violence among female victims.
Analyzing 10 selected articles from over 579 identified across major databases such as CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus, the study categorized nursing interventions into three main approaches: self-management programs, counseling, and social support initiatives. These interventions typically include psychoeducation, relaxation techniques, meditation, and problem-solving discussions. Results consistently show significant effectiveness in alleviating the trauma and adverse outcomes experienced by women survivors.
The study highlights the vital role nurses play in delivering holistic care that integrates physical, psychological, and spiritual support to promote safety and well-being for victims of domestic violence.
This evidence supports the urgent need for nursing professionals to adopt comprehensive intervention models, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
