Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran Advances Family-Based Nursing Interventions to Prevent Bullying Among Children and Adolescents
Bullying continues to affect the well-being of children and adolescents worldwide, often rooted in insufficient family involvement. Addressing this, a recent scoping review conducted by Iyus Yosep,S.Kp.,M.Si.,M.Sc.Ph.D. and colleagues from the Department of Mental Health, Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Padjadjaran, alongside collaborators from the University of Malaysia Sarawak and Universitas Aisyiyah Bandung, sheds light on effective nursing-led family-based interventions to prevent bullying.
By systematically reviewing research from the past 15 years, the study identified key interventions such as parenting improvements, family education, counseling, conflict management, and school-family collaboration. These approaches, implemented both online and offline, enhance family communication, relationships, and children’s emotional resilience, proving effective in reducing bullying behaviors.
The findings underscore the critical role nurses play in empowering families to foster safe and supportive environments for children and adolescents. This aligns closely with the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), promoting health and social harmony within communities.
