Willingness of Patients with Chronic Diseases to Use Telepharmacy Services in Bandung City, West Java, Indonesia: A Nursing and Pharmacy Collaborative Study
The COVID-19 pandemic has expedited the use of telehealth innovations worldwide, including telepharmacy services that are vital for chronic disease management. A recent multisite cross-sectional study in Bandung City, West Java, led by Sofa D. Alfian and colleagues, including Nursiswati, S.Kp, M.Kep.,Sp.KMB. from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, examined the current practices and willingness among patients with chronic illnesses to utilize telepharmacy.
This study, involving 443 patients with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD, found that both actual telepharmacy use and willingness to adopt the service were low. Key factors contributing to low willingness included older age (≥50 years), limited internet skills, and minimal smartphone usage.
The study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, focusing on innovative care delivery, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, emphasizing equitable access for vulnerable populations.
