Telehealth Approach in Breast Cancer Care: A New Contribution from Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Nursing
In a new publication, Prof. Yanny Trisyani W, S.Kp., MN., Ph.D. and colleagues from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, together with co-authors, systematically reviewed the effectiveness of telehealth models in breast cancer care.
This systematic review analyzed 24 randomized controlled trials across 10 countries, highlighting diverse telehealth models such as psychoeducational programs, cognitive-behavioral approaches, nurse-led symptom monitoring, lifestyle management, and empowerment-based interventions. Delivery methods ranged from telephone consultations to web-based platforms and smartphone applications.
The findings revealed that telehealth interventions significantly improve quality of life, mood, adherence, coping skills, and sleep quality, while also reducing anxiety, depression, and fatigue. This demonstrates that telehealth is not merely a complementary tool, but a transformative approach to delivering patient-centered care for women with breast cancer.
This research aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by showcasing how technology can enhance cancer care outcomes and accessibility.
