
Unpad Students Educate Children of Immigrant Workers in Malaysia on Healthy Culture and Nutrition
August 30th 2025, Jatinangor – In April 2025, a student of the Faculty of Nursing, Padjadjaran University, Aulia Najwa Azkia, who is a Delegate of a Fully Funded scholarship, participated in the International Volunteer Chapter Malaysia activities organized by the Indonesian Youth Foundation and Youth Indonesia. This activity took place at a guidance studio for the children of migrant workers in Malaysia, with the aim of providing the right to become an Indonesian citizen and nutrition health education.
In this activity, children are introduced to regional food, regional songs, and traditional games to expand their understanding of Indonesian culture. In addition, interactive education about “Fill My Plate” which introduces the concept of balanced nutrition and healthy eating and involves children in the direct practice of choosing balanced foods. This activity also supports SDGs 3: Good Health and Well Being by instilling an understanding of healthy diets, as well as supporting SDGs 4: Quality Education through fun and meaningful learning experiences for children.
This activity also included a group conference with Mrs. Friny Napasti, S.Pd., M.Pd., Principal of the Indonesian School Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), which discussed the vision, mission, and challenges for Indonesian children in Malaysia so that they return to their homeland with useful knowledge and skills. In this program, Aulia Najwa Azkia was also awarded Best Leader, a recognition of leadership and dedication throughout the activities. This volunteer activity is a cross-cultural educational experience while strengthening Indonesian education and culture in the international community.
