Jatinangor, 2 Agustus 2025 — Household accidents such as burns, electric shocks, falls, and poisoning remain common causes of injuries within the home environment. Unfortunately, public awareness—especially among women as household managers—remains limited in efforts toward prevention and early management of such incidents.
In response to this issue, the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan, PPK Ormawa) of the Padjadjaran Nursing Corps, Faculty of Nursing, Padjadjaran University, initiated the Permata Siaga Women’s School as part of their community service activities. The opening ceremony was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Al-Mukaromah Mosque, RW 13, Mekarasih Hamlet, Hegarmanah Village, Jatinangor District.
The event, titled “PERMATA SIAGA: Independent and Responsive Women Ready to Anticipate Household Accidents as an Effort to Empower Women in Hegarmanah Village,” officially commenced at 09:25 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The program began with remarks from the Chairperson of Permata Siaga, Dwi Putri Oktaviani, followed by speeches from the Supervising Lecturer, Ms. Ristina Mirwanti, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., and a representative from the Hegarmanah Village Government, Mr. Adi Kuswara.
The main session featured a lecture titled “Introduction to Household Safety,” delivered by Ms. Ristina Mirwanti, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., who also serves as a mentor for the Padjadjaran Nursing Corps. The material aimed to equip the female participants with foundational knowledge regarding potential hazards and household accidents such as falls, poisoning, injuries, electric shocks, and fires. In her presentation, the speaker explained the common causes and impacts of various domestic incidents and emphasized the importance of preventive measures. Participants were encouraged to better understand the vital role of women in maintaining family safety within their residential environment.
As part of a promotive-preventive approach to public health, the activity concluded with a Medical Check-Up service that included blood pressure and blood glucose level screenings. These health checks aimed to monitor the general health status of participants and promote early detection of hypertension and diabetes risks as part of efforts toward a healthier community. This initiative reflects Permata Siaga’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). By raising women’s awareness about household safety, it is hoped that participants will become more responsive, alert, and empowered individuals in fulfilling their roles as family protectors and agents of change within the community.
