Researchers from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran led by I Gede Angga Ariesta Widayana, Hana Rizmadewi Agustina,S.Kp.,MN, Ph.D., and Dr. Ati Surya Mediawati,S.Kp.,M.Kep., have conducted a socio-ecological scoping review titled “Factors Associated with Work Life Balance Among Nurses in Hospitals: A Socio-Ecological Scoping Review.” This study synthesizes evidence from 12 international studies spanning Indonesia, Japan, Uganda, Bangladesh, Turkey, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Jordan, South Korea, and Australia, providing a comprehensive understanding of how individual, interpersonal, community, and organisational factors affect nurses’ ability to balance professional demands with personal life.
The review, conducted following the Arksey and O’Malley framework and PRISMA-ScR guidelines, highlights the need for policies that foster flexible work arrangements, enhance well-being, and provide strong social support systems for nursing professionals. Such measures are essential not only for nurse retention and satisfaction but also for ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery.
This research contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 5: Gender Equality, by advocating for equitable, healthy, and sustainable work environments for nurses worldwide.
