

Maria Komariah, S.Kp.,M.Kes., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, along with collaborators from the Faculties of Dentistry, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Geological Engineering at Universitas Padjadjaran and Universitas Mulawarman, has developed a noninvasive, saliva-based method to detect alpha-amylase, a biomarker linked to oral health.
Using screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPEs) enhanced with gold nanoparticles, the team applied Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) techniques to achieve accurate detection across concentrations of 100–500 units (R² = 0.9513). The sensor proved to be highly sensitive, rapid, and cost-effective, making it suitable for early clinical screening.
🔬 The innovation aligns with SDG 3 by improving health diagnostics and SDG 9 through low-cost biosensor development for broader clinical use.
