Advancing Interprofessional Collaboration in Health Education: A Critical Psychometric Review
Led by Anastasia Anna, S.Kp.,M.Kes, Ph.D. from Universitas Padjadjaran’s Faculty of Nursing, this rigorous psychometric review critically examines the instruments used to measure interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPE/IPC) among health professional students. Collaborating with Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital, Chiayi, Taiwan, and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keperawatan PPNI Jawa Barat, Indonesia, the team applied the COSMIN methodology to evaluate the quality and validity of existing self-report questionnaires.
Interprofessional collaboration is fundamental to preparing health professionals capable of delivering effective, patient-centered care. However, assessing attitudes and competencies in this field remains complex due to the abstract nature of collaboration itself. This study reviewed 10 key articles identifying seven instruments, among which the Interprofessional Attitudes Scale (IPAS) stood out for its robust psychometric properties, covering content validity, reliability, structural validity, and cross-cultural validity.
The findings support IPAS as a recommended tool for health education programs globally, including Indonesia, to accurately gauge students’ readiness and attitudes toward collaborative practice. This research contributes to strengthening health workforce education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education).
