Validation of the Thai Version of the TAPAS Scale: Measuring Physical Activity Avoidance Among Young Adults

A recent study led by first author Kamolthip Ruckwongpatr from the Institute of Allied Health Sciences, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, validated the Thai version of the Tendency to Avoid Physical Activity and Sport Scale (TAPAS). The research involved 612 Thai university students and applied Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and multigroup CFA to ensure the scale’s reliability and consistency across gender, weight status, and daily exercise.

This scale provides an important tool to assess psychological barriers related to weight stigma and body image affecting physical activity among young adults in Thailand. The study was conducted in collaboration with Universitas Padjadjaran, represented by Iqbal Pramukti, S.Kep., Ners., M.Sc., Ph.D., Faculty of Nursing, contributing to advancing public health research aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being.
