Along with the development and demands of the needs, the Nursing Science Study Program which was previously under the Faculty of Medicine, was ratified as the Faculty of Nursing (FIK) on June 8, 2005 based on the Unpad Rector Decree No. 1020/J06/Kep/KP/2005 and approval Director General of Higher Education No.1827/D/T/2005 dated June 1, 2005. Thus, the Faculty of Nursing is officially one of the faculties within the University of Padjadjaran.
On September 2, 2013, the Faculty of Nursing changed its name to the Faculty of Nursing based on the Chancellor’s Decree No. 3268/UN6.RKT/KP/2013 because nursing education is not only academic in nature, but also includes professional education.
The Faculty of Nursing Unpad as the second oldest center for Nursing Higher Education in Indonesia is required to produce high-quality nursing human resources. Therefore, the Faculty of Nursing Unpad seeks to organize and manage all available resources and develop themselves so as to produce graduates who are able to compete in the national and international job market.
To produce graduates who are able to compete in the national and international job market, the Faculty of Nursing Unpad facilitates the opening of several study programs including: Bachelor of Nursing in Jatinangor, Bachelor of Nursing at PSDKU Pangandaran, Nursing Profession Program, and Master of Nursing Science.

Seiring dengan perkembangan dan tuntutan kebutuhan, Program Studi Ilmu Keperawatan yang tadinya berada di bawah Fakultas Kedokteran, disahkan menjadi Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan (FIK) pada tanggal 8 Juni 2005 berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Rektor Unpad No.1020/J06/Kep/KP/2005 dan persetujuan Dirjen Dikti No.1827/D/T/2005 tanggal 1 Juni 2005. Dengan demikian, Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan sah menjadi salah satu fakultas di lingkungan Universitas Padjadjaran.
Pada 2 September 2013, Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan berubah nama menjadi Fakultas Keperawatan berdasarkan SK Rektor Nomor 3268/UN6.RKT/KP/2013 karena pendidikan keperawatan tidak semata bersifat akademik, namun termasuk juga pendidikan profesi. Fakultas Keperawatan Unpad sebagai pusat Pendidikan Tinggi Keperawatan tertua kedua di Indonesia dituntut untuk menghasilkan sumber daya manusia keperawatan yang berkualitas tinggi. Oleh sebab itu, Fakultas Keperawatan Unpad berupaya menata dan mengelola segala sumber daya yang dimiliki serta mengembangkan diri sehingga menghasilkan lulusan yang mampu bersaing di pasaran kerja nasional maupun internasional. Untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang mampu bersaing di pasaran kerja nasional maupun internasional, Fakultas Keperawatan Unpad memfasilitasi pembukaan beberapa program studi diantaranya: Sarjana Keperawatan Jatinangor, Sarjana Keperawatan PSDKU Pangandaran, Program Profesi Ners, dan Magister Ilmu Keperawatan.
